Forget top of the class, a four strong band from Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School in Horncastle could be heading for the top of the charts.

The band, called Corsicana, consists of Mitchell Naughton, Elliot Miles, George Simons and James Law.

Two band members - George and James - still attend QEGS while Mitchell and Elliott left the school last year.

Now, they’ve teamed up with another former QEGS student - Belchford based Jay Newby - to launch their first EP and music video.

Jay is a freelance videographer. He wrote, directed and edited the music video himself.

And just to establish a family connection, the EP was recorded and produced by Jay’s dad, John - a local guitar teacher - at his home studio.

As for the video, there are yet more local links as it features local actress Sian McDonald and Justin Kanzah.

Jay explained: “After recording the EP, the band decided the next step was to have a music video.

“The video stars Sian and Justin. It took over six months to produce and was all achieved on zero budget with everyone giving up all their time and effort for free.

“We’re really proud of what we’ve put together.”

The band - formed a couple of years ago - has a strong local following, but Jay has high hopes they will go on to national success.
