The Woodhall Spa Country Show committee are promising an egg-cellent egg-stravaganza of an event at this year’s show, to be held on Sunday, May 17 at the Showground off Green Lane in the village.
As you might have guessed, the farming focus for 2015 will be on poultry and eggs. The established formula of covering a particular crop or product each year is particularly appropriate this time because the poultry section is always one of the most popular in the show.
The key main ring attraction this year is Thomas Longton with his sheep dog demonstration. Thomas, the winner of ‘One Man and His Dog’ on no less than three occasions, is a highly professional and successful dog handler and is the third generation of his family to achieve prominence in the trials world.
Other events in the ring include the Lincolnshire Area Carriage Driving Team; parades of tractors and other vintage vehicles; the judging of the Champion Live Exhibit in Show at 3pm and the South Wold Hounds. The day-long programme is completed with the fun and excitement of the Terrier Races. Local band ‘The Billinghay Ruffs’ will be performing their own inimitable brand of songs and humour on a trailer near the public entrance and the show will feature their long-standing supporters, the Ka Ku Shi Gai drummers, who have performed at every show since the event began in 2006.
Visitors to the Heritage marquee will find many groups eager to help explain local and family history topics, and the resident Potter – another regular - will show them how to throw a pot.
The WI will be serving tea and cakes for traditional tastes.
