First, there was a plethora of cafes and coffee houses.
Then, there was an increase in the number of kebab shops and pizza takeaways.
Now, it seems, residents in Horncastle could be spoiled for choice when it comes to restaurants.
Sources have told the News that two new eateries could open in the town within the next few weeks.
And both are apparently going to be American-style diners.
One would be based at the former Wania Restaurant in Bridge Street and the other at the former Punch House premises in Market Place.
There has been no official confirmation but the owner of another Horncastle restaurant, Phil Cantwell, said he believed the two new diners were set to open.
Mr Cantwell, who runs the Thai Dining Room in West Street, said: “Everyone is saying we’re going to get two new restaurants, both American diners.
“It’s going to be very interesting. There will be a lot of competition but I say - bring it on!”
Another source told the News work had already started on refurbishing the former Wania premises which closed earlier this year.
