New season opens at Spa swimming pool

The new season for the open air heated swimming pool begins on April 30 and there is a special offer for the over 60s.

Every Tuesday, over 60s can enjoy half price swimming.

This is one of several special offers to encourage all ages to take part in one of the healthiest forms of exercise in the Park’s unique garden setting.

“We are a community facility, run by and for the community, so we want to be as inclusive as possible for everyone, no matter what their age or personal circumstances,” said pool manager Joe Stanhope.

Following popular demand, the adult only early morning sessions now begin even earlier, at 6.30am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the usual 7am on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

“This makes it easier to fit in a healthy swim before work – an ideal way to start the day and keep fit,” added Mr Stanhope.

The cost of family swimming has also been cut, with special term time after school deals when the price drops after 3pm.

The pool also allows carers to go along free when they bring those they look after, while members of the armed forces, NHS, fire and police services receive a 10 percent discount.

The first of the popular midnight swims, which take place from 11pm to 1am, is being held on April 30 , with prices at £6 for adults and £5 for juniors and seniors.
