One of Lincolnshire’s most iconic tourist attractions will be showcased on national TV this weekend.
On Sunday at 8pm, Channel 4 will present a Time Team special on The Secret of Lincoln Jail.
Sir Tony Robinson and the Time Team cameras have had exclusive access to an archaeological dig taking place as part of the Lincoln Castle Revealed project.
During the show, they’ll be tracing the story of punishment throughout the castle’s history.
Councillor Nick Worth, Executive Member for Heritage and Culture, said: “Lincoln Castle and its prison are such unique, special places, and it’s great to be part of a show that’s seen by millions of people.
“Not only will this give local people an even greater insight into what life at the castle was like, it should also bring in some extra visitors.
“Since Time Team’s visit, there have been even more exciting finds, including a previously unknown Saxon church and two Roman townhouses.
“And all of these finds are bringing to light new sides to the castle’s story.”
