TENNIS: Mixed doubles in memory of Connie Bark

SUNDAY morning saw the courts full again at Horncastle Tennis Club for the inaugural Connie Bark Memorial Trophy.

Connie was a former player and committed member of the club who sadly passed away earlier this year.

The format for the day was American style mixed doubles with partners changing in each short round. Connie’s widower Dave Bark, daughter Edwina and grandaughter Jessica all played in the tournament.

After five rounds of fun, but competitive tennis, Jessica Jackson and Karl Sutton emerged as the winners with the most games won overall.

Thanks to Sue Winter for running the usual brilliant barbecue and Dorothy Payne for the donation of the trophies.

With the summer leagues now complete the club is looking forward to the winter programme. Inter club matches start mid October for all age groups. For further details of club activities please call or text Shirley on 07917 410657.
