Perfect pairing will give Jade a bright future
Tattershall-based tennis ace Jade Windley believes her new doubles partnership with Sam Murray could be destined for a bright future.
The pair recently teamed up and reached the final of a $25,000 Challenge Tour event in Clemont Ferrand in France.
They saw off some much higher ranked opponents to reach the final where they came up against the vastly more experienced Diana Marcinkevica and Bibiane Schoofs.
The first set could have gone either way but Windley and Murray missed out 6-3. In the second set, their opponents were always in control and won 6-0 to take the title.
Windley, though, was encouraged by the performance and has high hopes of linking up with Murray again over the coming weeks.
She said: “We combined really well and we defeated some good opponents to make it into the final.
“It’s disappointing we didn’t do better (in the final) but it has really given our confidence a lift and hopefully we can build on it.
“We have played together before and it would be good to play with Sam again.”
Windley has moved up to 467th place in the world singles rankings and is ranked at 434 in the doubles - thanks to that performance in France.
She is scheduled to appear at another Challenge event in Glasgow and then plans to play in a $75,000 tournament in Barnstaple, Devon.
