Matches for all age groups

Members at Horncastle Tennis Club enjoyed another busy weekend with matches for U8’s through to veterans.

The mini team travelled to Tealby for a match on Saturday afternoon and at U10’s level, the now quite experienced match players Ross Armstrong and Alec Sykes won all their matches in convincing style.

The Under 9’s were represented by Lewis Downs and Ben Wilson who both played well and gained valuable experience but didn’t manage any wins against the more experienced Tealby players.

At U8’s, Max Wilson won a match and Louis Fitzaden -Gray had several close scorelines. Turner Kingswood played only his second match and Hannah Downs made her very first appearance for the team.

These youngsters played well and learned lots along the way.

On Sunday morning, the winter league team were disappointed to be given a walk over by Boston who didn’t manage to field a team.

Sunday afternoon saw the ladies’ first team begin their winter challenge in the Veterans League.

Without the strength and stamina of the younger members in this league, the over 40 ladies have to dig a bit deeper.

This week, Shirley Sutton and Jane Clark won all four of their sets against Grimsby Tennis Centre and Mireya MacRury and Sue Bowser won two out of four.

Mireya and Sue’s match had to stop at six-all in the second set as the rain arrived with final score 6-2 in Horncastle’s favour.
