Up and coming motorcycle ace Aaron Silvester beat off the competition in a thrilling event at the Arena UK equestrian center at Grantham over the Christmas break.

The 15-year-old, from Thimbleby, took the crown in the inaugural flat track event.

After receiving his award from local road race star Steve Plater, Aaron said: “This indoor event has been particularly challenging as it is a very different surface to which we race on in the year, which are mainly proper Speedway tracks.

“But I was determined to win, and the A&J 250 Honda never missed a beat.”

His win comes after his success at the Shorttrack UK club championship this year and runner up in the National championship behind Ollie Brindley, who he beat at this event.

Aaron is continuing in 2013 competing with the newly formed Dirt Track Riders Association, and is hoping to step up to Road Racing in the National Superteen Championship.

He said: “The Aprilia racer is in the garage, so dad says I have to get my GCSE’s sorted and find some support. Then I will be on the grid. I can’t wait.

“I have been lucky to have the support of my aunt and uncle with dad as mechanic, but I know road racing demands more.”

Junior flat track racing classes start from age 7 and details on flat track racing can be found at www.shorttrack.co.uk.
