Horncastle & District Tennis Club has secured Olympic legacy funding worth nearly £50,000 from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities fund.
The club will receive £49,599 of National Lottery funding towards building a clubhouse.
The clubhouse will become the hub of the Tennis Centre, providing much needed space socialising, toilet and changing space, office, store and treatment room.
The position and design will ensure good visibility of the courts, engaging parents with their children’s activities and encouraging more adults to take part.
Enclosed within a secure boundary fence, the clubhouse will provide safe, easy access to shelter and facilities for players of all ages.
With a busy schedule of training matches for under-8s to Veterans all year round, the clubhouse will be used daily.
Tennis Club Chairman Jane Clark said: “We are delighted to have secured this investment, which means we can provide our growing club with the facilities it deserves.
“It is the cornerstone of our strategy to have an outstanding club for the 2012 Olympics’ legacy.”
The project will be completed with additional funding that has been secured from the Lincolnshire Lawn Tennis Association, Horncastle Tennis Club and other local businesses.
The Directors of the club are now busy finalising the plans with a view to obtaining planning permission.
