He was not the only Lincolnshire golfer to miss out, as fellow Bostonian Jordan Wrisdale also found himself in the same predicament.

After Thursday’s opening round of 73, Coupland – his first action back on the tour after featuring at The Open – pulled things back to level par with Friday’s round of 69.

However, it was not quite enough to see him return on Saturday at Galgorm Castle, Ballymena.

Wrisdale suffered the same fate, shooting 69 on day one but 73 on day two.

New Zealander Ryan Fox carded -19 to win the 27,200 Euros top prize.
