Pride of place this week went to Kieran who triumphed in the under-17 men’s high jump with 1.50m, a personal best, and then ran 61.8sec to win the 400 metres, also a personal best.

After that it was over to the javelin where he placed third with another personal best of 31.93m.

Jim said: “In the technical events of the high jump and the javelin, he looked brilliant, concentrating so hard and reaping the rewards. The 400 was his first run of the season, so to improve by so much in that event was a real boost, there’s absolutely more to come in that event.”

Jim began his day with a personal best in the hammer by nearly three metres, winning the title with 24.53m. He was second in the shot with 8.59m, which he said was a disappointing distance, but bounced back with his second best distance of the year in the discus, placing second with 26.53m, only losing by 8cm.
