TENNIS: Horncastle U12s win tight match to take league top spot

Horncastle Tennis Club teams have continued their busy schedule this week with U8s, U12s and men’s teams all playing in the Aegon league.

The U8s travelled to David Lloyd Burton Waters in Lincoln for their match. The team this week were Redford and Rowan Bramley, Hannah Downs and Sam Baxter. The team lost 10-2 with Redford and Rowan securing the two wins. Hannah and Sam played well and had some close scores.

The men travelled to Boston. Karl Sutton won his singles, but that was the only rubber won so 5-1 to Boston.

The U12’s team played at home against Grange Park, Scunthorpe. Ross Armstrong played a mature game to come back from losing the first set 6-2 to win the next set and then the deciding tie break. Ben Tyrrell also won on a match tie break. Freddie Dobbin lost his singles 7-6 6-3 Freddie Merritt won his singles 6-0 6-0.

The match was decided when both Horncastle pairs won their doubles. This puts Horncastle U12 boys at the top of their league table with one match left to play.
