Motorsport fans are in for a treat with Wainfleet and District Sporting Motorcycle Track Racing Club’s meeting on Sunday.

The David Nix Memorial will feature a top line-up of riders from all over Britain to ride in honour of David, who was from Carrington near Boston. He was a former Wainfleet rider, club member and young star of speedway, who unfortunately died in action at King’s Lynn.

The grasstrack race meeting is at the usual top Irby-In-The-Marsh circuit, where the club has assembled a line-up of 250cc, 350cc and 500cc solos, plus a small number of youth riders, and the awesome 1,000cc sidecars.

Riders will include many local Lincolnshire aces, as well as national stars. Competing in the 500cc solo class will be Jamie-Fenn-Smith and his brother Ben, from Sleaford, whilst lady rider Megan Holtby, from New York, will be up against riders including Sleafordian Alan-Fenn-Smith in the 350cc category. Ex-Boston speedway rider Ricky Scarboro, from Wragby, and his young son Kurtis will be heading the local challengers at 250cc.

There will also be Lincs talent in the youth races and the always impressive sidecar races.

Racing starts at 1.30pm with practice at noon. With a 35-race programme, racing will finish at around 5pm with the presentation of trophies.

Hot food will be available, with flush toilets on site where there will be free caravan and camping from today (Wednesday).

The venue (PE24 5DE) is off the B1195 Wainfleet-Spilsby road, signposted from the A52-A16-A158.

Admission Adult £12, OAP £10, child 12-16 £5, under-12 free.
