GOLF: Ladies’ trio tee it up to take first place

A trio of Jo Burden, Pidge Wood and Rita Holmes won a Ladies Section event at Woodhall Spa Golf Club to mark the opening of the new heather tees.

The new tees are to be used by ‘Category Five players’ and the competition - a three ball alliance - attracted players of all abilities.

Sue Bevan won the first ‘official’ competition off the new tees with a nett 69 on countback. Lindsey Ginty won a Stableford on the Bracken course with 36 points. First silver was Wendy Craven 31 and second Heike Huskinson 29. First bronze was Annie Oliver 35 and second Patricia Coleman 34.

India Clyburn won a Stableford on the Hotchkin with 38 points. First silver was Janette Hunter 35 and first bronze was Annie Oliver 33.

There was a very good turnout for the Mollie Jordan Qualifier. Jo Burden won the Stableford with an amazing 41 points.

The Benwell Cup Medal on the Hotchkin was won by Ann Leggate with a nett 75. First silver was Jo Burden (76) and first bronze was Hazel Fawcett (80).

A Stableford on the Bracken was won by Bev Cox with 37 points. First silver was Barbara Lennox (34) on a countback from Janette Hunter. First bronze was Patricia Bradwell (36).

The Hotchkin Qualifier Medal was won by Heike Huskinson nett 76. First silver Emily Slater and first bronze Maggie Jarrett.
