One of England’s top prospects has joined Woodhall Spa Golf Club.
Teenager Billy Spooner, who has been selected to represent the England U18s team, is the latest in a long line of young players to link up with Woodhall Spa.
The 16-year-old, who lives in Wyberton, recently received confirmation that he will spend next year continuing to represent the national side in competitive matches.
Having recently finished his education at Kirton’s Middlecott School, Billy is now spending his time concentrating on his game.
Although he will remain in the amateur ranks for the foreseeable future, his plan is to get as much tournament action in as possible, both in Britain and abroad.
He is also hoping to study in the USA as part of a sports scholarship when he turns 18.
As well as featuring for England next year, Billy will also compete in a number of amateur events.
His season will begin with the amateur opens in both Spain and Portugal next February.
Billy is coached by Boston Golf Club pro Nick Hiom.
The teenager says he joined Woodhall Spa to offer more variety to his training.
Apart from the world renowned Hotchkin Course, Woodhall Spa is the headquarters of the English Golf Union and offers some of the best practice facilities in the entire country.
Billy is following a well-worn path with the likes of Holly and India Clyburn and Nathan Kimsey all recently earning England honours while at Woodhall Spa.
