A Horncastle IBC quartet have booked their place in the semi-finals of the Ladies’ County Fours.

Play-offs were held at Boston IBC on Sunday, and Horncastle were represented by Mary Johnson, Jill King, Judy Moody and Olive Wells.

In the Last 16 they started off against the home side of S. Simpson-Shaw, G. Grant, S. Tebbs and S. Hoyles.

The Horncastle rink were 3-2 down after four ends, but led at the halfway stage 12-3 - before taking a win of 19-18 in this close match.

The four ladies then proceeded to the quarter final play-off, where they met a strong Sleaford team, but produced a convincing 22-11 win to take them through to the semi-final and finals to be held in April.

Judy Moody, the current Horncastle IBC president and captain of the LIBA mixed team had a double celebration when, in her absence at Dunholme on Sunday, the Mixed Team, including four reserves, did her proud by taking the match 15-3.

The Horncastle team won on three rinks, drew one and narrowly lost on the fifth rink.

They also took the aggregate, winning 121 shots to Dunholme’s 84.

Horncastle have now secured the Division Two title and will be promoted to the first division.
