Sports clubs, leisure centres and sports organisations targeting young people in Lincolnshire have only two weeks left to apply for Year 4 Sportivate funding.

The Sportivate programme, which provides funding for sport organisations who want to encourage semi-sporty teenagers and young adults to take part in sport, has so far awarded funding to over 250 projects since July 2011.

It allows clubs and organisations to offer sports sessions for children and young people across the county.

Lucy Blakey, Children and Young People Officer at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, said: “Funding is available for sports projects in Lincolnshire to encourage semi-sporty teenagers and young adults to take part in sport.

“Each county will receive Sportivate funding from Sport England until 2017 to allocate to projects to encourage young people to be active.

“It is a great opportunity to encourage young people to get involved in sport but also provides a huge financial incentive for sports clubs, schools, leisure facilities and others, to deliver more sport across Lincolnshire.”

Sports clubs, schools, community groups, NGBs, local authorities, universities, youth clubs, colleges, leisure facilities and workplaces targeting 11 – 25 year olds can all apply for funding.

Projects are asked to base their applications on £40 per head for six to eight weeks of sport sessions.

The deadline to apply for the next round of funding for projects from April to June or July to September is Friday January 17.

In particular, people are being encouraged to apply if their project focuses on NEET, disability and post 16 age group.

The application form can be found online at www.lincolnshiresports.com/twenty-twelve/sportivate-2/ or to request a copy call Lucy on 01522 585 580.

Completed applications should be sent by email to lucy.blakey@lincolnshiresports.co.uk
