Kimsey leads the way
WOODHALL Spa’s Nathan Kimsey continued his fine form but England looked to be struggling on the second day of their defence of the Home International Amateur Golf title at Gailes Links, near Glasgow today (Thursday).
Kimsey, (19), enjoyed a 100 per cent return on his debut for the full England side yesterday, winning his singles and foursomes in the victory against Wales.
He impressed again in the clash with Scotland today, partnering teammate Callum Shinkwin to a 2&1 win over Grant Forrest and Paul Shields in the morning foursomes.
In the afternoon singles, Kimsey was all square with Scott Barrowman after 10 holes but England were down in five of the remaining matches with Scotland looking to hold the advantage.
Meanwhile, Woodhall’s Holly Clyburn shot an opening round of 75 (three over) in the star-studded Handa British Ladies Masters at the Buckinghamshire club earlier today.
Curtis Cup ace Clyburn received a special invitation to play in the £300,000 European Tour event.
