Jayne’s jubilant after double victory haul
Jayne Crooks celebrated a double success when the ladies section at Woodhall Spa Golf Club
played their leading Lady Brooch competition and EWGA medal on the Hotchkin course.
The brooch event is open to players who who have won a medal competition during the year and Jayne, playing off a handicap of seven, won with an impressive nett 73.
The score reduced her handicap to five.
The medal event was also won by Jayne with Beverley Cox close on her heels with a nett 74 and Judy Wildon third with nett 79.
Judy continued her fine form the following week by winning the EWGA medal, also played on the Hotchkin course, with a nett 76.
India Clyburn took second spot with nett 78 and Alexandra Robson was in third place with nett 79.
l Big-hearted golfers from Tattershall Lakes Country Park have raised funds for the Lincolnshire Air Ambulance and Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
They staged a stableford competition which was won by Chris Butler, who pipped Steve Archer for first place.
Both golfers returned an excellent score of 37 points, but Butler came out top after a countback.
Archer did take the award for the longest drive while other trophy winners included Bruce Waddle (nearest pin) and Dusty Miller (bunkers). Miller was the oldest player in the competition at the age of 75.
Richard Smith, sports and leisure manager at the park, said: “The day was hugely successful and all the objectives we set out to achieve were exceeded.”
Mr Smith said he hoped to organise other events in the coming weeks.
The competition was open to guests of the park, home owners and off-park guests. The golf course is open all year round and anyone wanting details should contact 01526 345522.
