It has been a long time coming but Town’s U10s tasted success for the first time this season after a thrilling win against Birchwood at The Wong last Sunday.

Birchwood went into the clash sitting two places above Town in the table but the hosts produced a determined display to break their duck - much to the delight of manager Bruce Baxter and a big crowd.

Birchwood went ahead with a free kick that took a wicked deflection, but Town rallied and levelled through Louis Robinson.

Robinson then scored a second and found the back of the net again to complete his hat-trick before half time.

Birchwood started the second half strongly and pulled a goal back, despite some brave work from William Fawcett at the heart of Town’s defence.

Town dug deep and grabbed a fourth goal through James Smith before Anthony Clarkson made it five with the best goal of the game.

Birchwood piled on the pressure and scored with three minutes left but Town held out.
