Town have their say in title race

Horncastle Town could be in line for a big favour from Sills and Betteridge Lincolnshire League rivals Skegness United.

Cleethorpes would have opened up a four point gap at the top of the table, if they had beaten Town last Saturday.

Town battled to a 0-0 draw meaning Cleethorpes head the title race by just a point ahead of main rivals Skegness United who were in cup action last Saturday.

In other league games, Skegness Town missed a chance to close the gap on the leaders when they were beaten by the odd goal in five at Nettleham while Ruston Sports grabbed the local bragging rights with a tidy win over Lincoln United Reserves.

Market Rasen Town’s Kyle Paul scored the only goal of the game to bag three points at Sleaford Town Reserves while a Michael Ellis brace helped Hykeham to a home victory over Heckington United.

CGB Humbertherm beat Boston Town Reserves by the odd goal in three.

In the Challenge Cup, Louth Town Reserves earned a home semi-final against Nettleham with victory in extra time of their last eight tie against local rivals Grimsby Borough Reserves.

Boston United travel to a semi-final showdown at Gainsborough Town who overcame Skegness United.
