Horncastle Town

Development XI 6

William Foster 3

There’s just no stopping Luke Blondel - or his teammates in Town’s recently formed Development squad.

They threw the form-book out of the window to serve up a sizzling six goal victory against Lincoln based William Foster in the first round of the Fred Quibell Junior Cup at The Wong on Sunday.

William Foster went into the clash full of confidence, not least because they play two divisions higher than Town in the Lincoln Sunday League.

However, they had reckoned without another impressive performance from Town’s youngsters, who built on some impressive league displays to fully deserve their big win.

Blondel, fresh from his scoring heroics in the reserves, led the way with a well taken hat-trick.

Ben Fidling added two goals and the scoring was completed by the always reliable George Swift.

Town will be concerned they conceded three goals but if they can repeat this form, they will fancy their chances of springing a few more upsets.

l Town’s first team have been drawn against Boston League side Bennington in the second round of the Lincolnshire Junior Cup.

The tie will be played at The Wong on Saturday November 8 at 2.15pm.
