Horncastle Town overcame a Market Rasen side they drew 0-0 with just two weeks ago by the odd goal in three to gain another win in the Lincolnshire League Supplementary Cup on Saturday.
Town’s chances of progressing to the knockout stage of the competition improved dramatically thanks to a Scott Lowman brace which ensured the team their second win of the group for the Wongers.
Lowman opened the scoring after 20 minutes but the visitors levelled the game just before the stroke of half time.
With 20 minutes of the game remaining, Lowman doubled his tally for the game when he netted another to give the team the lead which they saw out until the final whistle.
Town continue in the Supplementary Cup next Saturday, away to Brigg Town Reserves.
Horncastle were forced to postpone last Wednesday evening’s Lincs League fixture against CGB Humbertherm due to floodlight failure.
One of the centre lights failed to illuminate and therefore the match was unable to be played.
The game is set to be rearranged for a later date in the season.
The club would like to apologise to the opposition team and anyone who turned up to watch the match for any inconvenience.
