For their last home game before Xmas Coningsby Reserves turned out on Saturday for a rescheduled Boston League Division Two fixture against Swineshead A.

Much to the relief of the referee this turned out to be a good, clean and relatively incident-free game – must be the season’s spirit seeping in.

About 20 minutes after kick-off Coningsby’s Jamie Todd was the first to score, after losing the ball during his run it eventually found its way back to his feet leaving him with a short range shot to get it into the net.

A dash down the right wing and a long volley gave Swineshead the equaliser just 10 minutes later. Not until half way through the second period was there any further change to the scorecard when a header from a corner kick gave the visitors their second. Just before time a rare slip and fumble by ‘keeper Andy Yeomans gifted Swineshead a third.
