Horncastle Town U11s 3 Greenbank U11s 0
Liam Smith produced an impressive performance as Town U11s rounded off their home league campaign with an emphatic win against Greenbank.
Town took the lead eight minutes in.
Lewis Baxter found Cotton in a pocket of space 30-yards from goal.
He looked up and picked out a perfectly weighted pass to Ethan Burton-Melling who slid the ball past the advancing ‘keeper.
Greenbank hit back but Town ‘keeper William Chamberlain did well to hang on to a rasping drive and then produced a brave dive at the feet of an opponent.
Smith, who had arguably his best game in a Town shirt, instigated Town’s next attack but Isaac Bontoft fired just wide.
Town almost doubled their lead through a superbly worked move. Cotton picked the ball up and gave it to Smith who found Burton-Melling. He slid a delightful pass back to Cotton who poked the ball a yard wide of the post.
Early chances for Town came - and went - in the second half cut Cotton finally found the back of the net after good work by Dylan Loveley.
Lovely almost bagged himself a goal while Cotton also went close before Town wrapped up their win with a third goal.
A corner led to a goalmouth scramble and Lovely was in the right place at the right time to score.
The U-11s final game of what has been a very good season features a visit to local rivals Woodhall Spa.
