Coningsby FC 4-0 Rippingale and Folkingham

On Saturday Coningsby FC were at home in round one of the Sports Cup to Rippingale and Folkingham.

The first half of the game was a really a non-event with both teams doing their best but getting nowhere. Both adversaries were making chances but unable to finish and by half time frustration had started to set in, although there were signs that Coningsby might be gaining the upper hand.

The breakthrough came just two minutes into the second half when Coningsby’s Peter Dickinson accepted a delivery from a corner kick and despatched it into the R&F net.

Only two minutes later he struck again with a volley from right hand corner of the penalty area. 26 minutes into the second half a brief battle about 30-yards from the visitors’ goalmouth was ended with a long kick from Coningsby’s Sean Tailor to make it three for the Reds. Peter Dickinson made it a hat-trick with eight minutes left on the clock with a volley into the edge of the net following a running battle for possession from the half-way line.
