Horncastle Town will be hoping striker Mickey Stones can continue his goal scoring form tomorrow (Saturday) when they entertain local rivals Market Rasen in a Sills and Betteridge clash at The Wong (3pm).
The former Boston United player has made a big impact since his return to Town and bagged a brace in last Saturday’s thrilling 3-2 win against CGB Humbertherm.
Stones’ late winner helped Town climb to second place in the table - five points behind leaders Skegness Town.
Boss Paul Johnson could opt for an attacking line-up with Tony Edwards and Michael Harness both set for starting places.
Town won at Rasen earlier in the season but will be way of the threat posed by tomorrow’s visitors.
Rasen have won their last three games, including a 1-0 success at Cleethorpes last Saturday.
Town will be a keen to bounce back from a midweek mauling against a strong Boston United side in a friendly at The Wong.
Boston fielded a number of Conference regulars and won 7-0 although Town only trailed 2-0 at the break and were unlucky not to open their goal account.
*Town’s reserves will be aiming to keep the pressure on leaders RM Imp when they visit Birchwood United tomorrow in the WJ Harrison League.
The reserves are still unbeaten in the league this season and won 3-2 at Crown and Arrows last week with Luke Blondel, Ryan Beaumont and Sam Johnson all on target.
However, they could face a testing clash against Birchwood who are third in the table and also unbeaten after six games.
*Town’s Development XI return to league action in the Lincoln and District Sunday League with a home game against The Shed at the Wong (ko: 10.45).
Several of Town’s junior teams are also in action. Full details of fixtures and kick off times can be found on the club’s website.
