Star midfield Richard Jackson is likely to be counted out of Horncastle Town’s County Challenge Cup first round tie at Wyberton tomorrow (Saturday), ko: 1.30pm.

Jackson, who has made such a big impact at The Wong this season, is unavailable for the clash.

Town are also set to be without two other key performers - striker Mickey Stones and utility man Nathan Rawdon.

Assistant boss Dale Johnson confirmed Town would have to dig deep into their squad for what promises to be a tough test against their Sills and Betteridge League opponents.

Johnson said: “We’ve had a really strong subs’ bench in the last two or three games so there are players just waiting for a chance.

“The reserves don’t have a game tomorrow either so we could call up one of two of their players.

“It’s definitely an opportunity for someone.”

Town could hand a start to experienced striker Tom Sargeant who recently signed for the club and made his debut as a second half substitute in the Supplementary Cup clash at Skegness Town last Saturday.

Although Town lost 4-2 at Skegness, their hosts - the current Sills and Betteridge champions - needed two late goals to win the tie.

Town are expecting another difficult game tomorrow as, like themselves, Wyberton are in the top four of the Sills and Betteridge table.

*Town’s Development squad will return to league action on Sunday when they visit the University of Lincoln Law Society in a Division Five game.

Several of Town’s junior teams are also in action on Sunday. Full details of fixtures and kick off times are available on the club’s website.
