Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League champions Hykeham Town began the defence of their title with a convincing win over local rivals Ruston Sports.

Six different scorers found the back of the net for Hykeham as they knocked Sports for six at the Memorial Playing Field.

Last season’s runners-up Skegness Town beat East Lindsey rivals Horncastle Town at Burgh Road, while Sleaford Town Reserves got the better of Wyberton at Eslaforde Park.

New boys Brigg Town Reserves failed to make it a winning return to the league when they went down at home to Cleethorpes Town’s Development Squad.

CGB Humbertherm beat Market Rasen Town by the odd goal in three at Fulstow.

Hykeham Town 6

Ruston Sports 0

Treble winners Hykeham continued where they left off when they delivered six of the best to neighbours Rustons.

Robin Newman, Callum Chapman, James Slater, Michael Sullivan, Craig Leverett and Chris Funnell were all on target for the champions.

Skegness Town 2

Horncastle Town 0

The Lilywhites carried their unbeaten pre-season into the new campaign by beating Horncastle by two goals to nil at Burgh Road.

Miles Chamberlain and McCauley Parker were the goal heroes against their East Lindsey rivals, who they beat four times last season.

Sleaford Town Reserves 1

Wyberton 0

Oliver Sidney’s goal was the difference as Sleaford Town’s second string got off to a winning start at Eslaforde Park.

The three points went some way towards making up for the disappointment of being pipped at the 11th hour for fourth place in the table last season.

Brigg Town Reserves 0

Cleethorpes Town DS 3

A brace of goals from Daniel Durosemo helped Cleethorpes Town’s Development Squad to three points at Brigg.

Reece Newell was also on target for the seasiders.

CGB Humbertherm 2

Market Rasen Town 1

In the only Lincs League game to have scorers on both sides, CGB Humbertherm came out on top, thanks to goals from Joe Burns and James Blunden.

Nathan Smith was on target for the visitors.
