The Lincolnshire League representative side progressed to the next round of the national inter-league competition, having come back from behind at Erdington, Birmingham.

The home side had been given a reprieve after the Anglian Combination, who beat them convincingly in the last round, were found to have played an ineligible player.

And when they went ahead from a fourth minute John Myrie penalty, it looked rosey for the West Midlanders. But Horncastle Town’s Tony Edwards levelled the scores before the break.

The sides were deadlocked for most of the second half so Ryan O’Loughlin’s 80th minute strike proved crucial as it sent the Lincolnshire lads through to the third round.
