Horncastle Town could have to tackle one of their toughest assignments of the season tomorrow (Saturday) without skipper Chis Johnson.
The big centre back is struggling with a hamstring injury ahead of the Sills and Betteridge Premier Division clash at high flying Gainsborough Town (3pm).
Johnson picked up the problem in last Saturday’s disappointing 2-0 defeat at rock-bottom Nettleham United.
Boss Paul Johnson will be hoping his side can bounce back to winning ways but they face a difficult clash.
Gainsborough are fourth in the table and trail leaders Hykeham Town by nine points although they have two games in hand.
Town did beat Gainsborough 3-1 at The Wong in the opening weeks of the campaign although their form has slipped away since then. They lost 1-0 to the same opponents in a cup game.
Apart from Johnson, Town will be without key midfielder Carl Smith and Steve Lovett while Nathan Rawdon is also an injury doubt.
Town will be banking on Tony Edwards and Michael Harness to re-discover their scoring touch after both players fired “blanks” at Nettleham.
Town’s reserves are scheduled to be in action tomorrow with a visit to local Boston League side AFC Tetford for a “friendly”
Manager Jamie Lamming is keen for his players to get in some much needed match action before next Thursday’s cup final against Fulbeck United.
The reserves’ last league game against FC Monos was called off because their opponents could not raise a team.
