Horncastle Town U13s 2-0 Ancaster Athletic U13s
Rhys Bevington and Cori Pearce were both on target as Town U13s registered a hard earned victory against Ancaster last Sunday.
Bevington scored in the first half and Pearce secured the three points with a well taken strike after the break.
However, ‘keeper Travis Ayres was another key figure for Town and pulled off a late penalty save to register an impressive clean sheet.
Town went close early on, but Oliver Dean’s shot was saved and Pearce’s follow up effort was blocked.
However, they took the lead after seven minutes when Bevington volleyed in Henry Wilson’s corner.
Ancaster tried to hit back but Town defended well while Ayres pulled off a stunning save.
Bevington hit the bar in the 20th minute and Dean forced a good save from the ‘keeper.
Dean also went close with another effort. At the other end, defenders Ricky Marcenuik, Luke Hockley and Daniel Robins worked hard to keep Ancaster out.
The second half flowed from end to end, but it was Town who made the breakthrough in the 56th minute when Pearce fired home after good work from Dean.
Harry Close went close, but Ancaster pressed strongly in the closing stages but Ayres’ terrific stop from a spot-kick proved to be their last chance.
