FOOTBALL: Horncastle Town win seven-goal friendly thriller

Horncastle Town registered a 4-3 win against North Somercotes in a pre-season friendly under the floodlights at The Wong last night (Tuesday).

Town arranged the clash to get some much needed match practice after a lengthy lay-off over Christmas and New Year.

It proved to be just the work-out manager Paul Johnson was looking for ahead of the return to Sills and Betteridge League action at home to Nettleham on Saturday.

Town were certainly given a test by North Somercotes who play in the East Lincs Combination.

Scorers for Town were Ollie Johnson, Scott Lowman, Gareth Melia and Tom Sargeant.

Lasat night’s performance is likely to give Town’s management some tough selection decisions ahead of the Nettleham clash.
