A serious injury to Will Burton led to Horncastle Town Development Squad’s clash against Sleaford Seahawks at The Wong on Sunday being abandoned.

Burton suffered a suspected broken leg after 20 minutes of the Lincoln and District League Division Five clash.

Town manager Mark Simmons said: “The injury followed a fair challenge.

“We had to wait an hour for an ambulance and we could not move Will off the pitch while we waited.”

Mr Simmons stressed a ‘difficult situation’ had been handled really well and added: “Everyone at the club wishes Will a speedy recovery.”

The match will be rearranged for a later date in the season.

Burton has proved to a be a popular figure in Town’s Sunday squad during their challenge for a top four place.
