Horncastle Six-a-side League

Beercelona 5

Bantalona 2

Beercelona snapped a winless streak in style.

Jay Peterson had the first chance when put through but it brought a good save from the Bantalona keeper. Sean Gilbody produced some good saves also but when Dan Hunt got caught out in the middle of the park, Jack Harland put through Ryan Callahan to finish for 1-0.

Just before half time it was 2-0 when eventual man of the match Ross Dryburgh put through his own net in style.

The second half started with a great strike for Bantalona which was well saved by Gilbody, who also picked up his side’s MoM award.

Beercelona were camped in for a period and eventually Bantalona got one back for 2-1. Jack Harland responded by hitting the post.

However, Bantalona pulled level with a fantastic strike for Hunt into the top corner for 2-2.

But then immediately Beercelona retook the lead for 3-2. Beercelona eventually ran out worth winners with goals from Callaghan, Peterson and Harland.

Ivory Toast 0

Spandau Pele 2

An early chance for Toast was put narrowly wide before Spandau Pele hit the post.

They didn’t have to wait long for the lead as a great flick and superb volley made it 1-0 to Spandau Pele.

Despite good running from Whitt and Stacey, the defence held firm for 1-0 at half time.

The second half started in an energetic fashion and an outrageous back heel made it 2-0 to Pele.

Rich Hall had a great strike but put wide as Pele searched for a third goal which would have been justified on the performance. The man of the match went to Nadir Boulaid who ran the midfield and made the difference in the game.

ISS RAFCATS 0

OGFC 7

These two have served up some good battles since RAFCATS joined the league and last time they played out an entertaining 3-3 friendly result.

This week was a different story as OGFC solidified their position at the top of the league when Sam Johnson made it 1-0 with a first time strike. Jim Sharples then fired wide as the game stayed at 1-0 at half time.

Sean Calvert made it 2-0 in the second half and then added a third as OGFC piled on the pressure.

Nathan Wright made it 4-0 whilst man of the match Calvert sealed his hat trick for 5-0. Wright made it 6-0 and Calvert grabbed his fourth to seal victory in a very one sided second half.

Tekkerslovakia 2

Ginger Gaffer 0

Dan Burn had the first chance of the game but his shot was blocked. Jack Harwood then had a snap shot but it was saved easily.

It was Tekkers who took the lead, however, when Andy Chapman laid off to Nathan brown who tucked it in bottom corner for 1-0, which it remained until half time.

Ex-Tekkers player Josh Beresford got a tame shot in which the keeper fumbled on to post. Joe Cranfield raced down the line and fired wide.

Harwood brought a good save from the keeper as Gaffers desperately tried to find a way back in the game until man of the match Connor Preston made it 2-0,

Preston then had a chance to finish the game late on but Rob Taylor produced a quality save to deny a third as Gaffer lost points on the current leaders.
