Horncastle Town took on Boston United under-21s in the annual John Rawdon Memorial Trophy at The Wong on Wednesday evening.

Once again, an enjoyable night was had by all in remembrance of the former Horncastle and Boston United player John Rawdon.

In the end, the trophy was shared between the two sides after neither could be separated after 90 minutes of action. It ended 1-1 with Harry Limb giving the young Pilgrims the lead in the first half, and Luke Blondel supplying the equaliser for the Wongers 10 minutes before the final whistle.

l Horncastle Town expressed thanks to town firm Polypipe Civils who have kindly sponsored the first team’s new away kit, which was on show for the first time at the John Rawdon Memorial match.

l Horncastle Town Reserves hosted Skegness Town Reserves on a hot afternoon at The Wong.

Nadir Boulaid gave Horncastle the lead in the first half but the game was levelled by the Lilywhites before half time.

Horncastle made wholesale changes for the second 45 minutes but it was the visitors scored a second time and went away with the win on the day.

Next up for the Reserves is a home fixture against AFC Tetford tonight (Wednesday), with a 7:30pm kick-off.

The Reserves are at home again on Saturday when they welcome Hogsthorpe Swifts to The Wong. Kick-off is 3pm.
