AFC Harpars 4 Trent Valley 0

AFC Harpars extended their lead at the top of Division Three of the Lincoln Sunday League with a convincing victory over title rivals Trent Valley.

Leading scorer Michael Harrness led the way with a hat trick which included a Wayne Rooney style goal from the halfway line.

Harness opened the scoring 30 minutes in with a composed finish from a tight angle.

Trent were on the front foot for the remainder of the half but the Harpars defence stood firm to take a 1-0 lead into the half time break.

Harness doubled the advantage just minutes after the restart with that incredible effort from the halfway line by Harness, giving the visiting ‘keeper no chance as he scrambled back towards his goal.

Harpars added two more goals later in the game, one of which saw Harness complete his hat trick along.

Carl Smith also struck to seal a comfortable victory which puts Harpars into a strong position in the chase for the title.

Harpars will be looking for another win next Sunday when they host Burtons FCW at Horncastle Playing Fields (ko: 10.45pm).
