FOOTBALL: Cooke on the boil for Woodhall Spa

Woodhall Spa United stepped up their promotion bid in Division Two of the Sills and Betteridge Sunday League with a 4-2 win over rivals Ploughboy.

Goals from Jason Cooke (2), Tommy Avison and Gareth Melia clinched victory for Spa and left them two points behind leaders Ruston Sports who have a game in hand.

Spa have won seven of their 11 league games this season, drawn one and lost three. They have scored 31 goals and conceded 24.

They are four points clear of Ploughbuy in third place with St Helens fourth on 15 points.

Wragby currently top Division One with 19 points from nine games while Horncastle based Harpars are second in Division Three.

They have lost just once in seven games and are hot on the trail of leaders Trent Valley.
