Coningsby FC 3-0 Fishtoft

Coningsby played the first round of the Fishtoft Cup at home on Saturday, their opponents were Fishtoft, the team with their name already on the trophy.

Only 10 minutes into the game Peter Dickinson scored for Coningsby from a long cross, followed a quarter of an hour later by Shaun Taylor, who cut in from the left wing to put the ball in the bottom corner of the net.

Fishtoft replied by piling on the pressure and rattling the Coningsby woodwork once or twice without putting anything on the scoresheet, only for Coningsby’s Mark Wheatley to get his head to a free kick just before the break to score his team’s third.

After half time both teams set to it with a will but failed to achieve very much and each side had a spell of headless chicken syndrome without impressing anyone, least of all the referee, who at one time rubbed his head in wonderment at the chaos erupting round him.

The game ended without further addition to the score, Coningsby safely through to the next round.
