Coningsby FC 3-0 Rippingale and Folkingham

Rippingale and Folkingham had the opportunity to move above Coningsby in the Boston League Division one if they could win at the Allan Barker Field on Saturday, but The Reds secured their mid-table fifth place with a comprehensive victory.

For most of the first half neither team was able to make an impression with the highlights being finger-wagging sessions by the ref and a wasted chance at goal by Coningsby when the ball went wide.

The breakthrough came with 10 minutes of the first half left when Coningsby’s Sean Taylor was awarded a contentious penalty, which he duly sent home for the first goal of the game.

Ali Smith tapped a corner ball into the net just before the half time whistle to give the Reds a 2-1 lead.

When play resumed the visitors tried hand to get back into the game but just couldn’t complete a move and when Coningsby’s Mark Wheatley nodded a corner ball home with 20 minutes left to play it put the match beyond recovery.
