Coningsby Reserves 1-0 FC Kirton

Coningsby Reserves narrowly edged this re-arranged Boston League Division Two fixture against FC Kirton on Saturday.

The first half being uneventful but with plenty of good football, Coningsby had marginally more possession and attempts at goal but half time saw the scoresheet blank.

After the break Kirton raised their game a little and were matching the Reds in scoring opportunities but it was another 20 minutes before the deadlock was broken.

Coningsby’s Dwayne Sweet performed a lightning-fast follow-up dash to a free kick and headed the ball into the net to put the Reds in the lead.

Ten minutes later Kirton were presented with a wide open undefended Coningsby goalmouth which they managed to miss.

The rest of the match was a little tense as Kirton desperately tried to equalise and the home team strived for their second goal to make the game safe.

No further goals followed and the Reds took the full three points.
