Coningsby FC 1-1 (5-2 after penalties) Heckington Millers

Coningsby were at home again this Saturday, this time to the Heckington Millers in round one of the Challenge Cup.

Both teams found it heavy going at first with the wet grass causing problems until the rain eased off.

It was the visitors that scored first after 30 minutes when Coningsby’s ‘keeper, Andy Yeomans, slipped over and the Millers put the ball into the empty net.

Coningsby got the equaliser just 10 minutes later when a Sean Taylor cross ended up being nodded home by Carl Wilson.

For the whole second half both teams were fighting hard for a decider with Coningsby coming closest with shots hitting the post and crossbar.

The scoreline remained stubbornly stuck on one-all even after extra time so a penalty shoot-out had to be resorted to.

Coningsby were on target with all five of their penalties to seal the win as Heckington missed three.
