Coningsby FC 4-2 Freiston

Saturday saw Coningsby FC entertain Freiston for a rescheduled Boston League division one fixture, Coningsby’s last game of the season.

It was the visitors that chalked up the first score 10 minutes after kick-off with a close range shot that sneaked in at waist level just touching the goalpost.

The Reds replied just a couple of minutes later when Martin Maddison headed in a corner ball. The following back and forward battle with mistakes, and oft times lamentable passing exhibited by both sides, lasted until Sean Taylor’s flying header just before half time connected with a cross to put Coningsby one goal up once more.

After the half-time pep-talk from manager Tony Mumford, Coningsby set to with more determination, but Freiston still managed to equalise after 10 minutes with a sizzling long ball across the goalmouth.

With 10 minutes of full time left to play Coningsby’s Tom Sewell tapped in a corner ball dropped by the Freiston ‘keeper and scored another just two minutes later with a 30-yard shot into the bottom corner of the net.

The result sees The Reds finished a comfortable third.
