Boston Saturday Football League

Taylors Garages Premier Division

Coningsby visited Heckington Millers and both sides did their best in conditions which weren’t the best as the pitch became very wet and boggy.

In a good battle between both sides, it was The Millers who held a one-goal lead at the break through a Liam Tunstall tap-in when he pounced after a shot from Sean Jenkinson had hit both posts.

After the break, Coningsby came flying out the blocks and they stunned their opponents with a quick-fire two-goal salvo to lead 2-1.

However, Heckington carried on battling through the mud and deservedly got their just rewards when a shot from the edge of the box by Dominic Kew hit the inside of the post and went in to make the final score 2-2 which, in summary, was a fair result.

Taylors Ford Division Two

AFC Tetford looked to be suffering from their Christmas inactivity, going down 5-2 at Sibsey.

The game was as good as over as a contest by half-time as Sibsey stormed into a 4-1 lead before both sides added one more goal each after the break to complete the scoring.

Sibsey’s Leon Creasey was showing no signs of rustiness after his festive break, scoring four of his side’s goals. The other home scorer was Carl Tate who tucked away a penalty.

Mareham United went down to slender 1-0 defeat when they played hosts to Coningsby Reserves in a local derby encounter.

Coningsby looked to have blown their chances of victory when Matt Brader was dismissed in the first half, but they recovered to snatch victory with the crucial winning goal 15 minutes from time.

Mareham were also reduced to 10 men late on when Chris Money was also sent packing after receiving a second yellow card.
