FOOTBALL: Battling Bardney on trail of cup final glory

Battling Bardney are just 90 minutes away from an appearance in one of the Lincoln and District Sunday League’s most prestigious cup finals.

They grabbed a 2-1 win at Railway Inn last Sunday in a thrilling clash to book a place in the semi finals.

They will now meet Scothern United in the last four of the competition.

Woodhall Spa United’s hopes of a semi final place were crushed by a 6-1 defeat at Newton United.

Newton will entertain Metheringham in the second semi final.

In the league, Wragby suffered a 5-0 defeat at First Division rivals Bassingham Bugle Horn.

Horncastle-based AFC Harpars saw their promotion hopes suffer a setback in Division Two after a narrow 1-0 defeat at Trent Valley.

Harpars are now third in the table with 24 points from 13 games. Trent Valley have 29 from 13 while CSSC Burton Arms lead the way with 30 points from 10 matches.
