Double boost for Town
Strikers Will Carter and Danny Bent should be available to boost Horncastle Town’s attacking options at Lincolnshire League opponents Grimsby Borough Reserves on Saturday.
Carter and Bent have missed the last couple of games but manager Paul Johnson is set to include both players in his match-day squad.
Their return will add to the selection choices and also boost Town’s hopes of returning to the goal trail.
Johnson must also decide whether to retain teenagers Luke Blundell and Brad Wilson who made positive impacts on their first team debuts in last Saturday’s defeat at Heckington United.
Blundell, a striker, has been playing well for the club’s reserve team this season while winger Wilson was promoted from the U-18’s.
Johnson said: “Both lads did well. I was really pleased with them and we might give them another chance.”
Wilson is the latest player to move up from junior football - a clear indication that club’s production system is paying rich dividends.
The only worry for Town is defender Andrew Shinn who suffered a recurrence of a hamstring problem at Heckington.
Grimsby go into the clash below Town in the Premier Division table but Johnson is predicting a tough battle.
He said: “It’s a game we’re more than capable of winning but they’ll be looking at our last four results and saying exactly the same. We can’t afford to take them lightly.”
