Coningsby Reserves’ season ended in disappointment as they were beaten 3-1 by Swineshead Reserves in the final of the Barclays Brokers Willoughby Shield last Thursday night.

After enduring a difficult season in Boston Taylors Service Garages Division Two the Coningsby side could have ended on a high as they took on fellow league rivals Swineshead.

However from the opening whistle in the final played out at Tattershall Road in Boston it was evident that Swineshead were going to take some beating.

Coningsby had beaten and drawn with their opposition earlier in the season, but it wasn’t the same team they had faced earlier in the year.

Swineshead went 1-0 after 25 minutes after putting away a cross and then doubled their advantage 10 minutes later with a volley from the right wing.

Unfortunately for Coningsby, it took conceding their third goal before they got back into the game.

Swineshead scored with another volley before Dwayne Sweet pulled one back for Coningsby with the goal of the game.

His long shot from outside the penalty area flew into the top-right hand corner of the Swineshead net.

Five minutes later Jamie Todd had a shot cleared off the line and it unfortunately proved too little too late for the Reserves as Swineshead took the win.
