Cash windfall to help keep club’s future healthy

Horncastle Town chairman Colin Low is confident the club is on course for a healthy future after the cash boost from Lloyds Bank’s Community Fund.

Town saw off stiff competition from rival clubs to secure a £5,000 cheque from Lloyds last week, as revealed in the News.

Low said: “It is absolutely fantastic news for the club.

“We rely completely on fund raising, sponsorship and volunteers.

“This award will help tremendously in securing our future and importantly allow the club to continue to develop our junior side, helping us to continue bringing our talented young players through the ranks.

“I am very proud of the club and the support we receive and would like to say a big thank you to everyone who voted for us.

“I would also like to thank everyone who worked so hard in publicising our campaign and canvassing for votes. Without their efforts, we would certainly not have succeeded.

“In particular, I should say a special thank you to Claire Wilkinson who introduced us to the award, her husband Alan for his hard work in promoting our campaign and to Paul Johnson who submitted our application which succeeded in getting us to the voting final.”

The club are looking to improve their facilities and progress their FA Charter Standard to Development level,
