Boston League white-out could continue

Heavy snowfall and freezing conditions across the county ruled out any chance of play in the Boston Taylors Services Garages Leagues.

As a result all 23 fixtures will have to be re-arranged.

The Willoughby Cup ties which should have been played will not be carried over to this weekend but should be accommodated on the date of the quarter finals in mid-February.

With the poor weather spell set to continue, the prospects of a return to local football looks bleak and could cause more headaches for the league’s fixture secretary.

Coningsby should have played the Old Doningtonians at home and the fixture against Mareham United arranged for last night was also postponed.

The Mareham side were due to host Wyberton and have missed out on three fixtures due to the weather as they should have also played Billinghay Athletic’s Reserves last Tuesday.

They may have to wait until February for their next fixture away at Woodhall Spa if this weekend’s league game against Wyberton is called off too.

Coningsby are pencilled in to play Skegness Town Reserves in the Sharman Burgess Sports Cup this weekend, but will travel to Billinghay Athletic Reserves on February 2 if that is postponed.

Woodhall Spa have missed out on two fixtures due to the snow and ice – both away – at Wainfleet in the league and Spilsby Town in the Willoughby Cup.

Spa are supposed to be travelling to play Swineshead Institute this weekend in a Sports Cup clash.

Coningsby Reserves’ next planned fixture is against Wyberton Reserves in the Main Ridge Take Away Reserve Cup on February 2 and Mareham United are scheduled to travel to Park United this weekend in the Taylors Ford Division Two.
